E. Pena Advisees

It has been my personal pleasure to direct the dissertation or thesis research of the following former students. Their webpages (when available) and their initial affiliations and current affiliations when known are indicated.

1.     Dr. Inmaculada Baltazar-Aban. Obtained her PhD in 1995 at Bowling Green State University. She is Full  Professor at the Department of Biostatistics, University of Alabama at Birmingham.

2.     Dr. Marcus Agustin. Obtained his PhD in 1997 at Bowling Green State University. He is Full Professor at Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville.

3.     Dr. Zenia Agustin. Obtained her PhD in 1997 at Bowling Green State University. She is Full Professor at Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville.

4.     Ms. Dawn Garrison. She got her Master’s degree in 2002 at the University of South Carolina

5.     Ms. Zhiwue (Maggie) Wang. She got her Master’s degree in 2003 at the University of South Carolina. She is currently working at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, Washington.

6.     Ms. Hang Lai. She got her Master’s degree in 2004 at the University of South Carolina.

7.     Dr. Russell Stocker. Obtained his PhD in 2004 and is currently on a tenure-track Assistant Professor position at the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Mississippi State University. He has since moved as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Mathematics at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He is now a tenured Associate Professor.

8.     Dr. Jun Han. Obtained his PhD in 2005 and is currently on a tenure-track Assistant Professor position at the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Georgia State University, Atlanta, Georgia.

9.     Dr. Juan Ramon Gonzalez. Obtained his PhD from Spain. He is currently a researcher in Barcelona, Spain.

10.  Dr. Akim Adekpedjou. Obtained his PhD in 2007 and is currently on a tenure-track Assistant Professor position at the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, University of Missouri-Rolla, Rolla, Missouri. He is now a tenured Associate Professor.

11.  Dr. Jonathan Quiton. Obtained his PhD in 2007 and was on a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Mathematics, Western Kentucky University, Bowling Green, Kentucky. Currently works at Nissan America.

12.  Dr. Laura Taylor. Obtained her PhD in 2008 and worked on competing risks model with recurrent events. She is now on a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Mathematics in Elon University in North Carolina. Now a tenured Associate Professor at Elon.

13.  Dr. Alexander McLain. Obtained his PhD in 2008. He is currently a Research Fellow at the National Institutes of Health. After graduating he was a post-doc at the Department of Statistics, North Carolina State University. He then joined NIH as a Research Fellow. He will be joining the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at the University of South Carolina as an Assistant Professor starting August 2012.

14.  Dr. Joshua Habiger. Obtained his PhD in 2010. Joined the Department of Statistics at Oklahoma State University as a tenure-track Assistant Professor in August 2010. Has a stint at the University of Kansas, but has moved back to Oklahoma State University. He is now a tenured Associate Professor.

15.  Dr. Wensong Wu. Obtained her PhD in 2011. Joined the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Florida International University as a tenure-track Assistant Professor in August 2011. She is now a tenured Associate Professor.

16.  Dr. AKM Fazlur Rahman. Obtained his PhD in 2014. Joined the Department of Biostatistics at University of Alabama-Birmingham in August 2016 as a tenure-track Assistant Professor.

17.  Dr. Piaomu Liu. Obtained her PhD in 2016. Joined the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Bentley University in August 2016 as a tenure-track Assistant Professor.

18.  Dr. Bereket Kindo. Obtained his PhD in 2016. Works at Humana Research.

19.  Beidi Qiang. Obtained PhD in August 2017. Joined the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville in August 2017 on a tenure-track assistant professor position.
