Getting historical price data into spreadsheet is a crucial for any aspiring investors who use spreadsheets to manage their investments. Finsheet is a great add-on that provides Excel stock price and stock price Google Sheets at an affordable price. Let's walk through how to use their add-on to get the data we need. Before we start, make sure you have either Excel add-on and Google Sheets add-on in stalled.

Historical stock price

To get stock price, we use function FS_EquityCandles. This function supports global equities so even if you are interested in Asian or African stock, you can still obtain your data. Make sure to specify the resolution, which range from 1 month all the way to 1 minute. I usually use 1 day resolution but for day traders, having the ability to analyze data at 1-minute resolution is very important. After getting data into the spreadsheet, it is easy to do any charting/plotting like you would do normally when we get data manually.

Historical crypto price

For those who are interested in trading crypto, Finsheet provides the function FS_CryptoCandles which provides historical candles for crypto symbols. They support symbols listed on multiple top crypto brokers like Coinbase and Binance so you should have no problem getting the data you need. The historical data goes back all the way to the time the coin was listed on the exchange. I am a technical trader so after getting the data, I usually conduct some technical analysis to the data. Lucky for me Finsheet also supports pattern recognition and technical indicators with their technical analysis functions. I find these functions extremely handy and they have saved me a lot of time.
