The lectures in STAT 515 will begin with Chapter 3 of the text: Statistics, 13th Edition by McClave and Sincich, ISBN-13: 9780134080215. The course starts assuming that you have either already read through the first two chapters (excluding 2.9) or have seen it previously. Below are some self-tests on those chapters (to see if you are comfortable with the material) and some videos (if you would like to see lectures on the material). Chapter 1 - which covers basic terminology and data collection for describing populations and comparing treatments
Sections 2.1-2.3 which cover graphical displays and measures of center, including the definition of skewed and how it affects the mean and median.
Sections 2.4-2.5 which cover the variance and standard deviation, including the 68-95-99.7 rule, Chebychev's inequality, and z-scores.
Sections 2.6-2.7 which cover percentiles, boxplots, and outliers
